Khartoum – A few days ago ended in Khartoum a workshop called “Design and Urban Planning” organized by Future University and IUAV University of Venice, under the auspices of the Embassy of Italy in Sudan. The workshop follows last year’s edition and perpetrates a fruitful collaboration between the Sudanese and Italian universities, in the framework of the Master Plan for Urban Design and Planning in Arid Environment (UDPASE). The title of the workshop was ‘Living on the Nile’, an innovative exercise, proposing a synthesis of Italian excellence in the field of urban planning and the need to live in arid environments or in the process of desertification due to climate change. The workshop lasted three weeks, involved 3 teachers IUAV, 1 teacher FU and 25 attending (young students from different faculties, government technicians who deal with planning and land management, industry professionals).
