(April 18th, 2016) Literature and also music, art, gastronomy and cinema, everything strictly made in Italy: the International Book Fair in Abu Dhabi will be a celebration of the Italian culture. The event is taking place from April 27th to May 3rd at the ADNEC – Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and Italy will be the guest of honor at the 26th edition of the Fair, the most ambitious of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, with Over 500,000 titles present every year. On the eve of the inauguration, the Italian Embassy in Abu Dhabi organized the concert of the “Quartetto di Venezia”. The ensemble is performing on April 26th at the Abu Dhabi Theatre, to celebrate the opening of the Fair and the Italian role as guest of honor. The Fair is organized by the agency Ice, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Culture, the Italian Publishers Association (AIE), and the Books and Reading Centre. The Italian participation envisages an institutional area with an exhibition of the illustrators from the Bologna Children’s Book Fair and where will be also set up a library filled with books of Italian authors translated into English and /or Arabic. There will be set up also a business zone for B2B meetings between publishers and local visitors and a space to reproduce the Biblioteca Angelica thanks to special panels and where will be exhibited rare volumes.
