Berlin – Alitalia and Airberlin strengthen their business relations by creating a real ‘bridge’ between Italy and Germany, which will benefit both business and leisure travelers. Passengers will take advantage of the increase in the number of weekly non-stop flights from Italy – up to 25 percent more. For instance, since May 2nd, a new route will be operated by Airberlin connecting Bologna to the hub Düsseldorf with three flights per day. The German airline will also increase, up to three daily flights, the frequency of departures from Florence and Venice with destination Düsseldorf . The new trade agreement between the two carriers, which are both partners of Etihad Airways, strengthens the codeshare agreement between the companies, extending it to more than 1,400 weekly flights concerning 91 different routes that include 56 non-stop flights and 750 weekly flights between Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. During the last months, Alitalia and Airberlin worked together to improve the timetables of the connections and the portfolio of the routes, in order to offer a wider choice and better rates either for business and leisure travelers, in one of the largest aviation markets in Europe. An agreement concerning the loyalty programs will also allow MilleMiglia and Topbonus members to earn and redeem miles on codeshare flights. (9Colonne)
