Cannes – “The Silence” is the only title of Italian production – and the first since 1997 – running for the Palme d’Or in Short Film Competition at the 69th Cannes Film Festival. The jury will be chaired by the Japanese director Kawase Naomi. The film, produced by Kino Productions, confirms the excellent year of the company led by Giovanni Pompili, one of the most important realities on the young Italian cinema scene. The participation in a competition at Cannes Film Festival adds to the Nastro d’argento (Silver Ribbon) won by the short film “Almost Heroes” by Giovanni Piperno, the prizes won at the festival Cortinametraggio by “Merry go round” by Massimiliano Davoli, starring Michele Riondino, Tea Falco and Pippo Delbono, and the realization of the first feature film, “Il più grande sogno mai sognato” (“The greatest dream ever dreamed”) by Michele Vannucci, starring Alessandro Borghi, now in post-production.
