(April 25th 2016) A special tribute to Prince. Andrea Bocelli has decided to remember the artist who died Thursday, April 21st in Minneapolis. The Italian tenor was touring in the UAE with “Cinema World Tour”. He requested that chords from “Purple Rain”- one of the deceased artist’s most famous tracks- to open his live show. Once the notes started to reverberate through the Du Arena an applause from 10,000 moved spectators began. Bocelli had met Prince a few years. After his tribute to Prince, all of a sudden the maxi screen is coloured purple with the inscription “Dedicated to the musical genius, Prince”. The image accompanied a touching performance of the song “Canto della Terra” (performed as a duet with local singer Balqees Ahmed Fathi)- therefore offering the public a second tribute to the pop legend, Prince by Bocelli.
