(May 11, 2016) “This is an event that we care dearly about not only because it allows us to raise awareness of Italy and the Embassy to the public but also because it is the Europe Day’s celebration”. These words are from the Italian Ambassador in Washington, Armando Varricchio. It’s all ready for Europe Day on Saturday May 14th from 10:00 to 16:00, the Italian Embassy in Washington along with other European embassies in the city, will open its doors to the public. For the occasion, they will be offering a rich programme of activities and initiatives. The spotlight will be on culture and sports, science, history, technology and the ‘made in Italy’. The programme consists of numerous initiatives ranging from music to theatre to gastronomy and research in Italy. It has been realised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in Washington and a large number of partners in cultural and scientific institutions, associations and companies which will translate concretely the chosen theme with other European countries: The Best of the EU. “It is an opportunity- says Varricchio- to emphasize our pride as representatives of Italy, a founding country of the European Union, and that has always been among the strongest supporters of its core values. It is also an opportunity to highlight our uniqueness in a fun and instructive way starting from our common roots”. (Red)
