(June 9 2016) Discovering the Aeolian Islands starting from Germany. “In the land of fire and wind- a journey to the Aeolian Islands (in Stuttgart)” is the rendezvous scheduled for tomorrow, Friday June 10 at 19:00 at the Italian Cultural Institute (Kolbstr. 6). It is an exploratory journey through the nature and history of a ‘microscopic archipelago’ located off the Sicilian coast. The event was organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with Freunde des Italienischen Kulturinstituts Stuttgart e.V. Marina D’Angelo will illustrate to the public, in both German and Italian, the beauties of the Aeolian Islands also known as the Lipari Islands. The Aeolian Islands evoke a sense of fascination in its many visitors thanks to the richness of its history and mythology and its characteristic natural volcanic landscape and its still uncontaminated nature. The archipelago is under the jurisdiction of Messina’s province and is an ever more popular tourist destination. The volcanic archipelago is located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of the Sicilian coast. The Aeolian Islands have two active volcanoes, namely Stromboli and Vulcano. (Red)
