(June 14, 2016) Zvornik is a city north-east of Bosnia Herzegovina and the most affected by floods. Italy has intervened several times with reconstructive and preventive projects. Zvornik is infact, along with Srebrenica, Maglaj, Derventa, Orasie, and Sanski Most, among the six municipalities in which Italy is carrying out a post-flood reconstruction of €1million in favour of farmers, breeders, and small to medium businesses. “The donation of agricultural equipment to 235 families of farmers affected by floods concludes the first phase of Italy’s €70,000 support project to the Municipality of Zvornik. In the next two months, a new bridge over Sapna the river will be built to ensure economic development of the area and to avoid the risk of new floods” according to the Italian Ambassdor Ruggero Corrias in light of the recent the delivery of dikes which took place, small agricultural mechanization, hives, feed and fertilizers for the beneficiaries of the municipality of Zvornik. It is – as stated on the Italian Embassy in Sarajevo’s website – the second tranche of aid after 124 tons of fertilizer and seeds were donated last February 2014. (Red)
