(June 28, 2016) Photography, video, sculpture, drawing: the art of Antonio Rovaldi arrives in Portugal for an exhibition organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Lisbon in the context of “Frente a frente: a curator an artist” coordinated by Professor Claudio Zambianchi, and the series of exhibitions dedicated to contemporary Italian art. The photo exhibition, titled “Morning”, was inaugurated on June 27 with a discussion between Antonio Rovaldi and curator Marta Silvi about his artistic research which focuses around issues related to the perception of space and landscape. In “Morning”, open until August 8, Rovaldi examines the emotional and physical state before leaving for a trip: the artist’s gaze seems to vanish before the viewer’s eyes in a series of photographs and a heap of newspaper clippings. Rovaldi likes to investigate the thin line between documentary recording and the imaginative view of reality. Especially in his video installation, Rovaldi plays between natural and imaginary reality, trying to balance these two dimensions. For the artist, installations, perceived as chains of images, are the most immediate embodiment of a space in which the physical and mental dimensions intersect. (Red)
