London. “The rough wake up call of the Brexit referendum results shows that civil rights should never be taken for granted. We felt that we were part of Europe and instead, after Great Britain’s vote to leave the EU, we woke up immigrants. For this reason, we must not continue to neglect excercising our rights. Until today, few of those who had the right to vote had asked for British citizenship, even though they were qualified to do so. Similarly, many Italians still do not register with Aire even though they have lived in Great Britain for many years. Now, they have no choice. Brexit’s victory is a wake up call”. These are the word of member PD (Democratic Party) Member of Parliament Laura Garavani, a guest at the annual PD celebrations in London. It has reached its 5th anniversary this year. It was promoted by volunteers, members, and members of the local circle. Secretary of the London PD Roberto Stasi also attended the annual celebrations. (9colonne)
