(29 July 2016) In the course of its 69 years of history, Locarno Film Festival (August 3-13) has occupied a unique spot in the landscape of major film festivals. Every August, the Swiss-Italian town of Locarno becomes the center of auteur cinema: lovers of the seventh art and industry professionals come together to share their passion for cinema in all its expressions. For the first time the Italian Institute of Culture in Zurich collaborates with the Festival, which was often a forerunner of trends and fashions, and was able to recognize, before others, the genius of young filmmakers from around the world. President of the jury will be the director Dario Argento; among the participants, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, with the out of competition film “Une jeune fille de 90 ans”. On August 5, then, in Piazza Grande, the Leopard Club Award 2016 will be delivered to actress Stefania Sandrelli: a tribute to a great film personality that through her work was able to leave a mark in the collective imagination. The tribute that Locarno devotes to Stefania Sandrelli will be accompanied by the 1970 film “The Conformist” by Bernardo Bertolucci and a conversation with the Festival audience. (Red)
