(August 16, 2016) “Celio Azzurro” is a small preschool in the heart of Rome founded in 1990 in the Celio Park. It is the first Italian multicultural centre, a fortress fighting against disinterest and distrust. It is an important model of child education and a strong example of dialogue between cultures. The documentary “Sotto il Celio Azzurro” (2009) by Edoardo Winspeare will be shown on Thursday August 18 in Lima, at the Pier Paolo Pasolini Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute. The event, which will also see the participation of cinema critics Sebastián Pimentel and Leny Fernández, is promoted by ICI in Lima. “The documentary follows the teachers for one school year. It captures their passion and energy through their daily routines, the activities carried out with the children and their interactions with the parents. The documentary transmits spontaneity and reality and pay a tribute to multicultural stories about children, teachers and parents who reclaim their dignity and individuality.” Celio Azzurro is still managed today by a group of teachers varying in training and age. It stands out as a place offering an avant-garde didactic and cultural experience studied by many but ignored by the majority. (Red)
