(September 6, 2016) Columbus Day means a big party. A party that involves mostly Italian-American associations that every year, since 1929, deal with the organization of the event. Sicily is also preparing for the big event scheduled for October. Three in particular – as stated on the website of the University of Palermo – “will be the intiatives for ‘Sicily in New York ‘. The first at the Consulate General of Italy, the second at the Town Hall in Brooklyn with the collaboration of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and the third during the Columbus Day Parade on October 6 “. “The excellence of the island will shine through thanks to two different and complementary initiatives – writes the university – the first, of artistic and emotional nature, thanks to the screening of the art documentary Sicily Mother Earth (created and produced by the Foundation Thomas Dragotto), and a second of institutional nature, linked to the redevelopment of the archaeological park of Selinunte thanks to the fundraising activity promoted by the Settesoli winery. The initiatives that the Association, the Foundation Thomas Dragotto, and Settesoli cellar realize for the promotion of Sicily and for the redevelopment of the area will be presented to guests and stakeholders “. In this perspective, the University of Palermo, the third university center of Italy, is the institutional and scientific partners of the project. (Red)
