Beijing – Made in Italy wine sales grew by 12% to a value that by the end of the year will exceed for the first time 100 million euro, thanks to the thrust generated by the initiative of Alibaba. This is an evaluation by Coldiretti based on Istat data for the first five months of 2016 on the day dedicated to wine by the colossus of commerce Alibaba with the Tmall 9.9 Global Wine & Spirits Festival with the participation of 50 wineries from Italy with 500 labels. A choice much discussed on the 40th anniversary of Mao Zedong’s death that marks the profound changes under way in Chinese society and economy that – as remarked by Coldiretti – has become the world largest red wine consumer.
