Groningen – fluorescent films that more effectively collect and concentrate the solar radiation in small photovoltaic cells. The innovative technology is the result of a study by researchers from the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Pisa and the Stratingh Institute for Chemistry and Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials, University of Groningen in the Netherlands. The research results have just been published in the Journal of Luminescence. “We studied these low cost plastic devices capable of improving the performance of solar cells while reducing the surface and therefore also ensuring a reduction in costs,” explained Andrea Pucci, University of Pisa, author of the study along with Marco Carlotti, Giacomo Ruggeri and Fabio Bellina.
