(3 October, 2016) “The traveller in love” opened on September 24 and will remain open to the public until October 20 at the Lapidarium Museum of Novigrad in Croatia. “The traveller in love” was curated by the Italian art historian and curator, Martina Corgnati. The exhibition was organised in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute of Zagreb and displays a selection of 50 representative pieces of Tarshito’s singular and multifaceted practice. Tarshito is an artist, designer, performer and architect based in Bari but who has had a passion for oriental cultures for many years. The exhibition shows the Croatian public knotted rugs, paintings, tapestries, sculptures and objects made from different materials (bronze and ceramic). The works are divided into different sections: “Reception/offer”, “A new humanity”, “the beginning of new worlds”, and “sacred animals”. The threshold of the exhibition space is guarded by two “warriors of love”. Two patchwork embroidered heraldic figures: the traditional iconography of the warrior has been transformed into messenger of beauty and joy. These two figures welcome the visitors and lead them to the centre of the exhibition: an arena covered by multi-coloured rugs with representations of sacred animals undergoing a transformation, from which it is possible to admire the works displayed on the four surrounding walls and hung between the arches.
