(October 27, 2016) On November 1 at the Italian Institute of Culture in Tokyo will be inaugurated the exhibition “Bottega Ghianda and Hinoki Kogei – cabinet-making between Italy and Japan”, which contains the works of two world masters in the field of cabinet, Pierluigi Ghianda and Chuzo Tozawa. The exposure display, designed by architect Michele De Lucchi, highlights the link between the Italian tradition, which meets contemporary design, and the Japanese tradition of cabinet making. The fourteen pieces of Bottega Ghianda on display, still generated in the new headquarters of the workshop, represents the legacy of Pierluigi Ghianda. The same pieces are on display in an exhibition at Monza Triennale – Villa Reale (October 9 to November 27) dedicated to Pierluigi Ghianda. From Japanese artist Chuzo Tozawa are showcased eleven refined products. Founder of Hinoki Kogei, Cabinetmaking official supplier of the Imperial House, Tozawa is recognized around the world as one of the greatest living cabinetmakers. During the exhibition, Tuesday, November 2 at 18:30, there will be a meeting entitled “Michele De Lucchi and Naoto Fukazawa conversing on the topic of craft in Italy and in Japan.” The exhibition, sponsored by the Milano Triennale and the Italian Embassy in Tokyo, is part of the initiatives organized in Tokyo on the occasion of the Design Week.
