(October 31, 2016) To prevent and control malnutrition, with particular attention to children 0-5 years old and women lactating and pregnant. With this objective, the Italian government through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, will donate 500’000 euro for a new project implemented by UNICEF in the Red Sea State. The project, lasting 12 months, will be implemented in five provinces of the eastern state. Through the Italian contribution, UNICEF will provide technical assistance and support to the Ministry of Health of the Red Sea State, its main partner in the region. Representatives of UNICEF, Abdullah A. Fadil, and the Italian government, the Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Lobasso, met in recent days with the Khartoum office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation for the Agreement signing ceremony. Lobasso expressed great satisfaction with this mutual commitment and stressed the importance of facilitating the access to integrated systems that combat hunger and malnutrition, a problem on which the Italian Government considers it’s important to take action: “Italy – said our Ambassador – has always been committed to improving the living conditions of the Sudanese people and this project opens up fundamental opportunities for vulnerable groups in the region. ” (Red)
