(19 December, 2016) Great success at Basel for singer Tonino Castiglione last December 2 at the Theater Fauteuil. He is an Italian singer-songwriter who emigrated to Switzerland and is president of the local Dante Alighiery Society branch. Castiglione had not performed in public in ten years before then, as well as offering some of his famous songs (including ‘Lo stagionale’). Castiglione also presented new hits that were very well received by the public. The funds raised from the concert were donated to the City of Amatrice. The donation was allocated to the restoration of the City Hall (‘Palazzo del Reggimento’), within the “Adopt a work” program launched by the Municipality of Amatrice. The Italian Consul in Basel, Michele Camerota, was in direct contact with the Mayor of Amatrice, Sergio Pirozzi, to inform him of the initiative. Proceeds from the concert amounted to CHF 9,730.00 (approximately €9,000) and include proceeds from ticket sales (157 sold at CHF 45) in addition to spontaneous sponsor contributions. Significant financial support especially in terms of communication and distribution, came from the Consulate, who sponsored the initiative. (Red)
