Terra Amica, also known as Cavatina di Ilo from Rossini’s Zelmira debuted in Vienna at the Theater am Kärntnertor on 13 April, 1822. That same year, architect Karl Ehrmann finished the construction of the building commissioned by Philipp von Sternberg, the seat of the Italian Cultural Institute in 1934 and again in 1948 to date. Terra Amica takes place at the Institute and acts as a liaison between Vienna and the Italian cities involved in a fruitful artistic dialogue. (red)
