(January 13, 2017) The Italian Consulate in Basel has collected about five thousand euro with a charity auction, which took place last December 16, in favor of the City of Norcia for the post-earthquake reconstruction. The auction, entitled “The look of a Basel artist on Italy from Verbano to the Aeolian Islands” has sold the works of Faustina Iselin (1915-2010), donated by the artist’s grandchildren managing their legacy. “The initiative was born from a proposal by Hans-Ulrich Iselin, with the involvement of Carzaniga Gallery, historic art gallery directed by compatriot Arnaldo Carzaniga, it was an opportunity to appreciate, once again, solidarity and generosity from our community and the many Swiss intervened, demonstrating a strong affective proximity to Italy”, said the Italian Consul, Michele Camerota. The proceeds net (CHF 5423.00 – CHF 200.00 deducted for expenses) were donated to the Municipality of Norcia, to which the Faustina Iselin herself was particularly close. The Consul Camerota took direct contact with the mayor and the assessor for Social Policies, to inform them of the initiative, provoking an emotional reaction for the strong solidarity and the important contributions encountered abroad.
