Tehran. The export trend of Italian mechanics to Iran speaks for itself. It reflects geopolitical developments determined by trade sanctions imposed on Iran in July 2012. Since the trade of €422 million in 2012, Italy has exported products in the amount of €321 million. The state of trade worsened in 2014 with €292 million of Italian mechanical exports represented by Anima, the industrial organization which represents mechanics companies within Confindustria. First signs of growth occurred in 2015 but it’s not until 2016 when the sanctions were lifted that exports resumed to an amount of €410 million – a 30% increase. Demand for Italian mechanics is high and the Italian is ready with supply. According to data provided by Anima, the Italian mechanics sector sold Iran €77 million worth of gas turbines in 2016, an increase of 46% compared to 2015. Oil pumps are one of the best performing products now at €65 million compared to the €26 million a year ago. (9Colonne)
