Tripoli – Eni has made a new discovery in gas and condensate in the explorative Gamma prospect, in the Contract Area D, 140 kilometres offshore Libya. The discovery was made through the well B1 16/3, located 15 kilometres southwest of the Bouri field, five kilometres northwest of the Bahr Essalam field. The drilling of the Gamma prospect is part of the near field exploration strategy of Eni that, if successful, can exploit synergies with the existing infrastructures by reducing the time to market and providing additional gas to the local market and export. The well, drilled in 150 metres of water, has reached the total depth of 2,981 meters (9,780 feet) and encountered encountering a gas and condensates in the Metlaoui of Eocene Age. The well has the ability to deliver, in production configuration, more than 7,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. (9Colonne)
