(April 20, 2017) The personal exhibition of Matteo Fato will be titled ” Autoritratto (del) Blu di Prussia (Prussian Blue Self-Portrait)”, which will be inaugurated on May 4 at 7 pm at the Italian Institute of Culture in Lisbon. The exhibition, organized by the IIC and curated by Simone Ciglia, presents a series of works of purely pictorial character that have as principal theme the study of the clouds. Fato has begun this series of studies in 2008 and on this occasion in Portugal will present works performed over several years along with some new ones. The study was born from a research linking traditional Chinese painting to Ludwig Wittgenstein’s symbology of language. The works thus arise from the desire to look for pictorial representation in a moment that lies on the limit between writing and image, between word and thought. The cloud becomes an object that naturally encloses this limit of reality, being itself a word that does not contain a defined image, but in constant movement. (Red)
