(30 May 2017) The great events surrounding contemporary art continue at the Italian Institute of Culture in Lisbon, presenting recent works by Sandro Sanna in the exhibition “La Geometria della Natura” curated by the plastic artist António Olaio, director of the College of Arts of the University of Coimbra and with a critical text by Lorenzo Canova. The inauguration is scheduled for Thursday, June 8 at 19:00 with the artist in the former Chapel of the IIC in Rua do Salitre, 146, Lisbon. The critic and art historian Canova and Professor of Contemporary Art History at the University of Molise, wrote about the artist’s metamorphoses of light: “Sandro Sanna rediscovers ancient notions of the cosmos with a visionary perspective suspended between the past and the future in a dynamic system in perpetual metamorphoses of changing orbits, reconciled through new and different coordinates, into a vortex of black-red forms to become beams of absolute light aspiring to order and measure infinitely (…). In his refined and intense use of geometry, gold and the shining splendour of metal; Sanna renews the cosmological and metaphorical motifs of shapes that in their shining nature unite different areas and religions, church decorations, temples and mosques to allude to the mathematical perfection of the righteous universe and its enigmas”. The exhibition is open until July 28th. (Red)
