Khartoum. “Italy continues to be at the forefront of demining activities alongside the UN Unmas organisation in Sudan. On May 24, 2017, a grand celebration event in Port Sudan announced the Sudan’s Red State’s demining of landmines and other undetonated explosives” according to a note by the Italian Embassy in Khartoum. The celebration was attended by a high-level delegation from the Sudanese Government, led by Musa Mohammed Ahmed, Presidential Assistant, along with the Red Sea State Governor and Federal Deputy Defence Minister. There are also representatives of Unmas and of the Japanese, Italian, and Indian Embassies. (9Colonne)
