San Salvador – On June 5, during the World Environment Day, in El Salvador was inaugurated the XIIIth Geological Congress 2017, which is held for the first time in the country and sees the participation of geologists, volcanologists, seismologists and archaeologists from all over the world who will share their knowledge and exchange their experiences with students, teachers and national and international experts. Up to today, in San Salvador, José Simeón Cañas University (UCA), seven master classes and four classrooms will be held where national and international researchers will present a wide range of technological works and innovations on volcanology, geology, hydrogeology, geothermal, maps of danger, seismology, landslides and archeology. The Congress takes place on the 100th anniversary of the San Salvador eruption, thus inaugurating the Centenary temporary exhibition of the last great eruption of the San Salvador volcano of 1917, curated by the archaeologist Roberto Gallardo. The novelty of this Congress will be the online broadcast of lectio magistralis, to give the opportunity to listen to those who have not been able to enroll and attend, and to allow a wider public to know the results of the research submitted.
