New York. Lane Construction Corporation (Salini Impregilo Group) has been awarded a 232 dollar million contract for the replacement of Unionport Bridge in Bronx County, New York (United States). The first Lane project in the New York area involves replacing the overhead bridge that allows the Bruckner Expressway to cross Westchester Creek, while the new bridge will be built in 10 stages and will require 48 months of work. The real challenge will be to keep the expressway and the canal open during construction, building two temporary bridges and placing the last swinging leg in open position. Construction should begin by the end of 2017 and completed by mid 2021. (9colonne)
