Maputo. Twenty-five years ago, Mozambique signed the peace agreement that ended a long civil war in Rome. The Minister for Education, University, Research, Valeria Fedeli recalls, “An agreement reached thanks to Italian mediation, through institutional and non-institutional collaboration that has seen the Community of Sant’Egidio in the foreground, during the long negotiation process. It was a specific method that today is still being studied as a true crisis resolution model. Peace in Mozambique has shown that there is no conflict that cannot be overcome: with the aim of rebuilding trust, setting aside differences; long and bloody clashes can be put to an end. Dialogue and awareness of the importance of peace have been the key to this international success which teaches us a lesson in responsibility. We are all involved in building peace, even when conflict seems to be far from us. “(9colonne)
