Auschwitz. Without the memory of the past, there is no future. And in order to never forget the horror of the Holocaust, this year, the city of Rome organised the “Viaggio della Memoria” (A journey through history) from November 5th – 7th at the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps. The mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, will accompany the students along with two concentration camp survivors, Sami Modiano and Tatiana Bucci. 32 schools in Rome are participating in the initiative: there will be a total of 128 students accompanied by 32 teachers. For the first time this year, there will be “witnesses of the witnesses”: students who have participated in the initiative in previous years and who will return this year to transmit the memories to new generations.
