Cairo. The Italian Ambassador to Cairo, Giampaolo Cantini, met the Minister of Defense, Gen. Sedki Sobhi, and the Minister of Social Solidarity, Ghada Wali, on December 6th. “During the interview with Minister Sobhi, – according to a statement from the Italian Embassy in Cairo – the first topic discussed was the request by Italian institutions and public opinion to shed light on the barbaric killing of Giulio Regeni, and that all the Egyptian security authorities give their factual contribution towards the prosecution of judicial cooperation between the two public prosecutors. As for the political dialogue between Italy and Egypt – which Ambassador Cantini and Minister Sobhi have agreed to further relaunch, in line to what Minister Alfano and Shoukry discussed when they met in Rome on November 30th – it was focused mainly on Libya and on supporting the action of the RSSG UN Salamè”.
