Lyon. As stated on the website of the Italian Institute of Culture in Lyon, organiser of the Conference “The memory of ancient Italian knowledge and tastes – housewives-peasants-artisans”, held on Tuesday, February 13th at 19:00 at the Goethe Loft. The conference is part of the cycle “Conosci l’Italia e la sua storia” (Learn about Italy and its history” curated by Prof. Maurizia Morini, with the aim of underlining the importance of protecting and safeguarding the knowledge of our ancestors who teach us about the past while representing a part of our identity. The knowledge of farmers testifies how man once had a strong link with nature: through the good care of the territory, he secured good and healthy food for the table. Women then, like today, cooked with the ability and desire to do good through attentiveness to the best products and treating food with care and respect. Typical Italian dishes will be prepared during the conference: tortelloni with ricotta cheese, rabbit with balsamic vinegar, and tagliatelle cake. (9Colonne)
