“Malìe della luna. Rêverie del figlio del Kaos”, written and directed by Francesco Randazzo, will be staged on Tuesday, April 17th at 18.30 at the Italian Institute of Culture in Buenos Aires. Malìe della Luna is a theatre piece that, through music, evokes the works of Luigi Pirandello and the relationship between some of his most famous characters and the moon. The piece features various protagonists which, thanks to the skilful narration of Randazzo: Henry IV, a crazy lunatic; Ciampa, a reasonable lunatic; Ciàula, the young boy who discovers the moon from the bowels of the earth; Romeo Daddi, the child who killed but who under the rays of the moon will smear the memory of his crime as in a dream that will resurface after many decades; Batà, afflicted by the evil of the moon that makes him regress in a sort of ancestral lycanthropy. All are suspended between heaven and earth together with Pirandello, who continues to live in them – “lunatics”. Accompanying the narrator, an intense fabric of music, performed by pianist Alida Ratto and the flutist Calogero Giallanza, ranging from the baroque to the twentieth century, recreating the magical and surreal atmosphere of Pirandellian fantasies.
