Bratislava – The Night of Literature takes place as usual in May, in Bratislava and other Slovakian cities. The main objective of the event is to promote the best European literature translated into Slovakian. As in the previous edition, the “Night” is coordinated by the Czech Cultural Centre, in collaboration with the cultural departments of major European Embassies operating in the country. This year, on May 16th, Italy will be represented with Paolo Cognetti’s novel “The Eight Mountains”, winner of the 2017 Strega Award. The novel was translated by Martina Kolenová and published by Ikar in Slovakia. Paolo Cognetti currently lives in Valle d’Aosta, in a cabin at 2000 meters of altitude: where he went to overcome the end of a phase of his life. But that’s where another started and he is now a famous author who writes about the mountains, among other topics. (9Colonne)
