Helsinki. A concert for lovers of ancient music, with pieces taken from the Medici Codex of 1518, performed by Musicians of King’s Road, under the direction of Jonas Rannila on Thursday May 10th, 19:00 to 20:00 at the Turku Cathedral in Helsinki. The concert is a tribute to the Medici dynasty based on the Medici Codex of 1518, a collection of songs written by great authors of the 16th century. Divided into two volumes and assembled under the reign of Pope Leo X by the great musician Juan Mouton, it was a wedding gift for Lorenzo de’ Medici and Madeleine de La Tour d’Auvergne. The Medici Codex bears witness to one of the greatest treasures in the history of Western music. It contains works of one of the greatest composers of the 16th century: Josquin Des Prez, but also Costanzo Festa, Andreas de Silva, Adrian Villaert, Johannes de la Fage, and Pierrequin de Thérache. The concert was organised in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture in Helsinki. (9colonne)
