Berlin. “Giambattista Vico, three hundred and fifty years after his birth” is the title of the event on Tuesday, June 12th at 19:00 at the Italian Institute of Culture of Berlin which will host two experts: Jürgen Trabant (Professor of the Berlin Academy of Sciences who will talk about “Vico in Deutschland”) and Manuela Sanna from the University of Naples (“Vico and Human Knowledge”). The special conversation between the two scholars is occasioned by the three hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the birth of the Neapolitan philosopher (Naples 1668-1744). In his main work “Scienza Nuova” Vico states: only the actions we perform correspond to the truth (verum et factum convertuntur). This theory of knowledge, with which the philosopher opposed Scholasticism and Descartes, laid the foundations of modern human sciences. (9colonne)
