The seminar “Restoration of the frescoes. Current challenges” will take place tomorrow and Thursday in Veliky Novgorod, Russia. Current Problems : The State Hermitage Museum, the Italian Institute of Culture of St. Petersburg, the Museum-Reservation of Novgorod, the Museums Union of Russia, the Hermitage-Italy Centre and the company “Global Village International”, are all behind the organization of the seminar. Leading Russian and Italian restorers will take part in the seminar. Veliky Novgorod was not chosen randomly as a place to hold the event: the Monumental Painting Restoration Centre was created in the Novgorod Museum-Reserve, where unique methods are used for the restoration of ruined monumental paintings. In this way, Italian and Russian colleagues will have the opportunity to discover the work that is being carried out in Veliky Novgorod for the recovery and conservation of monumental paintings from the 12th to the 16th centuries and to exchange professional experiences.
