Glasgow. Giulia Gabbrielleschi has achieved a true feat by winning the European silver medal in the 10 km of the seemingly bottomless Lake Lomond in 1h54.53.0. The athlete from Pistoia, has held onto to the tails of 2016 Olympic Champion, Dutch national Sharon Van Rouwendaal in Rio, who won the gold in 1h54: 45.7 without giving any sign of failure over the long distance. Rachele Bruni, fourth at the finish line (1h55: 40.06), who was only passed by the leading duo in the last two kilometers. Giulia, who was part of the 5 km winning team at the World Championships in 2017, climbed onto the podium for the first time for an individual competition of this status. The Dutch winner of the 5 km race imposed her pace since the beginning and managed to distance all the other athletes including her compatriot Esmee Vermeulen who finished third (1h55: 27.4), but not the Italian who never gave up until the finish line. Arianna Bridi finished eighth with a time of 1h57: 27.1. (9Colonne)
