London. A study published in the scientific journal Pnas shows that the ability to discern between the various types of dominance emerges early, around the age of 2. The survey is the result of the joint collaboration between post-doc researcher Francesco Margoni and Professor Luca Surian from the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science of the University of Trento, and Professor Renée Baillargeon from the Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois. The study was conducted in the laboratories of Rovereto and the University of Illinois on girls and boys of approximately 21 months of age: old enough to have developed mechanisms of attention and basic memory sufficient to be able to collaborate in behavioural tests, but nevertheless with a reduced social exposure.
