Moscow – On April 27th at 19:00 at the Na Strastnoe Theatre Center in Moscow, “The fairy tale of Prince Hamlet” will be featured as part of the “Your Chance” festival. The director Marco Sciaccaluga has chosen an unusual approach to Shakespeare’s tragedy, making the actors wear white cloth masks, with a sort of reference to his colleague and pupil of Bertolt Brecht, the director Benno Besson. Thanks to this approach, the story of Hamlet becomes a mysterious story, both tragic and grotesque, with its unique characteristics and, at the same time, universal. “If the words of Samuel Johnson, the great English critic of the eighteenth century, ‘Anyone wishes to hear again the story he knows well’, are true, every theatre artist feels the need to recount Hamlet once again,” says the director of this performance, Marco Sciaccaluga.
