(Feb 20) The new structure of global governance and the prospects of partnership between the EU and China and the relations between Italy and China are among the topics discussed in Beijing, in the first bilateral dialogue between T.wai (Torino World Affairs Institute) and Cicir (China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations). The dialogue is part of the cooperation between IAI (Institute of International Affairs), T.wai and Cicir. The Institute of International Affairs in Rome, founded in 1965 by Altiero Spinelli, is represented by its director Ettore Greco. The program will include meetings and discussions in Beijing until Wednesday, and then in Guangzhou. The Italian delegation, which includes diplomats, economists and experts in international relations, will be received by the Chinese Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Yu Hongjun. The attention to China was already ratified by a permanent collaboration with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and a monthly newsletter titled ‘OrizzonteCina’, in collaboration with T.wai. The collaboration between IAI and Cass was launched in early 2010 with a visit to China by a delegation from the Institute, led by chairman Stefano Silvestri, and followed in June by a visit to Italy by a Chinese delegation. MANY CHALLENGES IN THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON
‘Orizzonte Cina’ is a monthly about the political, economic and socio-cultural life in Republic of China, the result of a cooperation between the Institute of International Affairs (IAI) in Rome and Turin World Affairs Institute ( T.wai) in Turin. “A manifesto – as on the cover of the February issue of the magazine – of prosperity of a new China, finally able to host and participate in an Olympics with winning teams. The Year of the Dragon, a symbol of power, comes after an extraordinary hyperbole of international prestige for China, that reached its climax in 2008, with the Beijing Olympic Games, and in 2010 with the Shanghai World Expo”. Among the topics in the February issue, available online: “The new U.S. military strategy as seen from Beijing”, “The foreign policy of the two-faced Dragon”, “The Chinese industry towards a new model of development”, “Migrants without salary and thaumaturge State” and “To regret bicycles in Beijing”.
