(Feb 28) – A 4 million contract for Stone Italiana, one of the most advanced companies in producing quartz and recomposed marble: this is the result of an agreement with the Qatar Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 1995 by local sheiks “for the development of education, science and society”. The contract covers the supply of 30,000 square meters of floor, 28 km of skirting board and 1,300 bath furnitures for the construction of a 33,000 square meters campus and 1,200 bedrooms in the Education City of Doha. “The challenge – said Roberto Dalla Valle, CEO of the Italian company – has been to respect the aesthetic and the environmentalist rules, which included the use of recycled glass . It was not easy, but eventually we managed to find the required 500 tons of glass to satisfy any request”. Thanks to the contribution of Stone Italiana, the new facility – made of 12 buildings, and cost 33 billion dollars – will be certified by LEED Platinum. The provision for the Qatar Foundation is just the first one of four other similar in the next three years, that could lead Stone Italiana to a total turnover of 20 millions. (Ram/Peg)
