(Mar. 2) – The actions of the Italian Cooperation in Guatemala obtain their first results. Tomorrow, near the Parco Central of Guatemala City, will be host the event “Ran Guatemala”, created through the efforts of Italian NGOs Gvc-Coopi, SoleTerre and Acap Sant’Egidio. Seven groups of civil protection volunteers, about 200 people, properly trained and equipped, will receive an official recognition from the mayor of Guatemala City. “The conformation of volunteer groups – the cooperation said- is part of a wider approach, which allowed the program to install monitoring systems and build infrastructures, mitigating the potential impact of environmental threats and increasing the effectiveness of emergency response activities. The event program includes the presentation of the play “Comunidad Viva Te Quiero”, funded by the Emergency Program and created under a project entrusted to Coopi, aimed at promoting a culture of voluntary civil protection in the communities of the program.
