(Jul. 2) – The Farnborough Airport, 60 km far from London, is a small infrastructure with a small landing strip and serves mostly touristic flights. It is a secondary airport if compared to Heathrow or Gatwick and Stansted but, in the second week of July, it becomes the most important in the United Kingdom. Farnobrough, in fact, hosts the “Farnborough International Airshow”, the international aerospace exhibition held in even numbered year. The event, together with the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget, is one the most important event of the sector in Europe, and in the last years it was the scenario of the first Eurofight flight, competitor of the American Phantom, and the chance to present the Airbus 380, the biggest aircraft in the world. The British Airshow presents the latest products and innovations of the sector and is also the occasion to establish future relationships. These are the reasons that led the Polo Aerospaziale dell’Umbria to participate in the event for the second consecutive year. Their stand will be located in the prestigious Hall 4/E5,in sharing with Rolls-Royce and Safran. The mission will be composed by 12 of the 26 companies of the Polo and the Faculty of Engineering from the University of Perugia, who will present some of the most recent researches. (red)
