(Jul. 26) – The Olympic Games in London opens tomorrow and, in some way, it is an Italian affair. Companies from the Belpaese have in fact created products and services that will ensure a successful result for the British Olympics. From the very beginning, the opening ceremony scheduled for tomorrow evening, the spotlights could light up an Agusta helicopter, which is expected to be part of the ceremony. There will be also other helicopter from the Italian manufacturer, which will supply surveillance aircraft and those ready to intervene in case of emergency relief. Another Italian giant, Mapei’s Giorgio Squinzi, president of Italian industrial employers’ group Confindustria, has provided materials and the adhesive used in the construction of the Olympic Village and the facilities that will host all the competitions. And more, the Piedmontese Mondo has provided equipment for the running tracks and sports halls, Technogym has installed its machines for personal training of athletes and the dismantable stands come from Metra, a company from Brescia. To close, the uniforms of the Azzurri have been designed by Armani and – not everybody knows it – athletes from Azerbaijan will wear Made in Italy thanks to the contract signed with Toni Scervino.
