(Aug. 14) In occasion of the 9th edition of the “Chiocciola d’Oro” international animated film workshop (from 20 to 26 August), held by the School of Cinema of Vranje, in Serbia, under the patronage of Unesco, Italy is among the first European countries to participate, alongside Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia and Macedonia. About 70 Serbian students will participate, while their teachers will come from the aforementioned countries. In particular, the Italian Institute of Culture in Belgrade guarantees the participation of Vincenzo Gioanola, famed animation artist and director from Turin. Gioanola announced that his course would focus on generating images directly on 35 mm film, to obtain brief cyclical movements, which, put together, create a 1 second image (called loop). Later, during editing, these loops would be unified in a 4-seconds series and complemented with the appropriate sounds. The final result will be made available for the school’s use on DVD.
