(Aug. 22) The Italian association against death penalty “Nessuno Tocchi Caino” met in Harare, Zimbabwe, with the Radical Party of the country, and the minister for Constitutional Affairs, Matinenga, also an abolition lawyer. He promised to discuss with the Council of Ministers the possibility of changing the Zimbabwe vote in the UN General Assembly in view of the voting on the universal moratorium, which will take place next December. These first successful round of meetings are the first of four rounds, which will take the Italian association in Swaziland, Chad and the Central African Republic. The Foreign Affairs Ministry in Italy supports these missions because of their specific aim to persuade countries to approve the moratorium of capital punishment.
