(Aug. 22) Known as the lungs of important cities around the world, city parks offer the unique opportunity to take a break from city life with a relaxing walk or, for the more active, with a jog, without ever leaving the city itself. But where is the prettiest city park in the world? The German magazine Focus decided to make its list of the top 10. And Villa Borghese, in the heart of Rome, is crowned “most fascinating park in the world”. Isabelle Bloedorn writes of the magnificent duality of the park, between nature and culture, history and sports. Indeed, the Roman park has nothing to envy to more famous city lungs, like Central Park and Hyde Park. “Villa Borghese is 5 squared kilometers of the most varied attractions: sculptures, fountains and waterfalls. And the Galleria and the Museo offer a unique collection of art from the great masters of the past, including Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, and Rubens. It is a pity – continues Bloedorn – that Napoleon, in 1807, brought some of its beauties to the Louvre.”
