(Aug. 23) A Kurd delegation met with EnerQ and its partner Q-Innovation representatives in their hometown of Conegliano, in northern Italy. The aim of the meeting was to present Orion 5, a photovoltaic generator off-grid, soon to be available in Kurdistan. Indeed, Orion 5 is the first prototype of a long series of projects, which aim at bringing electricity services in those areas disconnected to the national grid, for civilian and industrial purposes (Orion 5), for agriculture (photovoltaic greenhouses), for water depuration and dissemination (Orion Water), and for biomass products. The result would be total self-sufficiency. The Kurd delegation, in which six senior engineers were present, examined Orion 5, checked its functionality and acknowledged themselves with its potential uses and modes of application. In fact, this prototype was developed by the Zoppas-De Polo firm bearing in mind the climate and energy needs of a particular village in northern Iraq. EnerQ technicians had visited the village in October of last year. In Venice, the delegation also met with one of EnerQ’s partners, Envicon, with which the project Orion Water is being developed. Indeed, a water plant for its treatment, depuration and management would represent an important resource for a region where water is scares.
