(Sept. 14) – Even this year the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma took part in the Fine Food Australia,Australia’s largest exhibition for the food and beverage industry, which ended yesterday in Melbourne. After the United States and Japan, Australia, along with Canada, is the third largest market outside Europe for the Prosciutto di Parma. In a few years, exports have increased considerably, reaching 50,000 pieces per year. “Our presence in Australia is relatively recent,” said Paolo Tanara, President of the Consorzio del Prosciutto di Parma. “We started only 3-4 years ago, but this is the market in which we are having the best results. We recognize the undoubted potential of this country. The stand of the Consorzio, whose participation in the fair was organized in collaboration with the local Chamber of Commerce, has been positioned within the Gourmet Food area and has had a large number of visitors, including the most important distributors of Prosciutto di Parma”. “The international trade fairs in addition to strengthening working relationships with local operators, offer us the opportunity to put on show and increase the popularity our product,” continues Tanara. “They are also and occasion to spread the concept of GDP and the importance of the territory of origin, especially in international markets that need to be properly informed on the food sector of local products.”(red)
